Welcome to simWX
Find Challenging Weather Conditions for your Simulator. Here is a heads-up for nasty skies — spot the conditions that make approaches, departures, and go-arounds hard.
Challenging Conditions Categories
-
High Winds
Strong winds test control and stability, especially near terrain or obstacles.
See Airports and Heliports -
Wind Gusts
Sudden gusts cause lift and airspeed changes, requiring precise control.
See Airports and Heliports -

-
High Temps
Heat reduces lift and engine performance, increasing takeoff distance.

Experimental Data Sets (BETA)
- Runway Slope
Steep slopes affect braking, acceleration, and approach handling. This data set is in a somewhat beta state as there is incorrect data in the source datasets. Some of the flight sims do not properly represent sloping runways. Runway Slope Airports
- Density Altitude
Temperature and Pressure changes can create a scenario where the actual altitude and the density altitude are very different. This changes the performance profile of the aircraft, and can require additional takeoff distances. Large Density Altitude Delta
